Specialist precision drawn aluminium tubes.

Seamless Drawn:

Seamless tubing is produced using the seamless extrusion method over a fixed mandrel. Once produced, the tube can be drawn to achieve tight and consistent tolerances, making it ideal for critical applications in aerospace, defence, and medical industries.

The seamless nature of the tube eliminates weak points that could compromise structural integrity, allowing it to withstand extreme stress and pressure while maintaining superior performance. Tubes can be engineered to meet the most demanding industry standards, ensuring their reliability and longevity in complex systems.

The flexibility of the process means that Spartal can offer quantities ranging from a few lengths to thousands of metres. Dimensional tolerances and mechanical properties are covered by international standards (EN/ASTM, etc.), and tubes can be supplied to restricted tolerances by agreement to meet specific product needs.

Sizes available range from 4mm to 170mm (1/8 inch to 6 ½ inch) in diameter, with thicknesses from 0.25mm to 12mm (0.010 inch to 0.475 inch), depending on the diameter. Tubes are supplied in a wide range of alloys, from 1xxx to 7xxx.

As the only UK producer of large diameter drawn tube, Spartal offers large diameter tubes in thicknesses ranging from 0.7mm to 12mm, in mill lengths of up to 7M or as cut pieces. At the other end of the size spectrum, Spartal has a comprehensive range of tools for small diameter tubes and shapes (including all tooling acquired with Thames Tube), offering sizes down to 4mm, as well as squares, rectangles, and ovals. These can be supplied in lengths up to 6M, coils, or precision cut pieces.

Porthole Drawn:

Porthole tubing is produced by forcing an aluminium billet through a die and over a suspended mandrel. These extruded aluminium tubes can be manufactured in 1000, 3000, and 6000 series aluminium alloys. Like seamless tubes, porthole extruded aluminium tubes may be further processed by drawing. This tubing is commonly used for general engineering applications.

This process is ideal for applications requiring lightweight but strong materials, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and high levels of strength in comparison to conventional drawn tubes. Porthole drawn aluminium is widely used in industries such as aerospace and medical, where structural integrity and precise dimensional tolerances are crucial. Spartal’s porthole drawn aluminium tubes are designed to provide reliable, high-performance components, ensuring the safety and reliability of larger systems.

Spartal Waveguide tubing precision drawn aluminium tubes

Waveguide:

Waveguides are critical components used in high-frequency applications, such as radar, communication, and satellite systems. These tubes are designed to guide electromagnetic waves with minimal loss, ensuring the efficient transmission of signals.

Made from precision-drawn aluminium, waveguides maintain consistent impedance and minimise signal interference. Spartal manufactures waveguides with exceptional accuracy, meeting the stringent requirements of medical and aerospace sectors. Our waveguides are engineered to deliver optimal performance, ensuring the integrity of sensitive communication systems and other high-tech applications that rely on precise wave transmission.

Spartal have available Standard Rectangular Waveguide in Aluminium Alloy 6061. Most sizes from WR284 (WG10) to WR 28 (WG22) are carried in stock in lengths of 3 mtrs and 3.66 mtrs and can be shipped within days of order.

In addition, Spartal offer Reduced Height, Thick Wall, Thin Wall and Circular Waveguides in Aluminium Alloy 6061 and Standard waveguide in Aluminium 1200.

Spartal works closely with global distributors who are able to supply Standard Waveguide in OFE Copper and 90/10 Brass. Most sizes are available and in stock.
